Robyn Steiner, Owner and Operator
Robyn has over 12 years of teaching experience in the York Region District School board. She holds a Master of Science in Education, is certified as a specialist in special education, and holds additional qualifications in math, autism, reading and english. She has taught primary, junior, intermediate and special education math.
Having been an educator in the public school board and a mother of two little girls, Robyn understands the challenges children face in today's classroom. She believes that every child can succeed in math if given the right tools.
Her passion for making math fun for kids is what led her to join the Mathnasium family.
Rebecca Smith, Director
Rebecca is excited to join the Mathnasium family. She has spent the past several years working with children with autism, helping them integrate into community programs. She has a background in graphic design and fine arts, as well as many years working in sales and marketing.
Rebecca brings a unique perspective to the Mathnasium team. Combining her many years of working with children with her years in the marketing world, makes her the perfect person to help promote the Mathnasium program.
Melissa Stallone, Centre Manager
Melissa has worked with Mathnasium for over 5 years. She started when she was at York University working towards becoming a math high school teacher, and quickly realized the benefits to applying the Mathnasium methods in her own practice. Melissa graduated from both the Faculty of Education, B. Ed., Inter/Senior Mathematics & Social Science Concurrent program and the Faculty of Science, B.A., Spec. Hons. Mathematics for Education program in 2017, and now spends her days teaching as an Ontario Certified Teacher. Aside from teaching math Melissa loves playing sports, spending time with friends/family, and travelling when she can.
Paul Onica, Centre Manager
Paul is the Centre Manager at Mathnasium Vaughan. He has a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in
Russell White, Lead Instructor
Russell is currently working towards a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Guelph. He joined the team at Mathnasium to explore his passion for math and helping others.
Russell is a life-long Leafs fan, he enjoys spicy food and his favourite movie is The Count of Monte Cristo.
Previously Russell has taught children how to play the guitar and to snowboard, while more recently he has worked to develop software in the home automation industry. His fondness for math grew out of helping his close friends while at school. He firmly believes that everybody has the ability to succeed in math!
Marc Motica, Lead Instructor
Marc graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics at Trent Universiry and was a student teacher as part of his teaching program. His love for teaching has not stopped since then. It's not only because he sees the confidence in the kids once they've mastered the material but also because he thinks back to where they started. Yo how they had to overcome their struggles in math, how they told themselves many times in the beginning that they couldn't do it, and how much they have progressed in math since then. He believes math gives kids not just knowledge, but experience.
Marc's favourite things to do are playing video games, watching movies and soccer, and travelling.
Kevin Phan, Instructor
Kevin is currently pursuing his Bachelor in Science and Technology Studies at York University. His love for math started in elementary school when he fully mastered multiplication before anyone else in his class could. Math has always been his favourite subject because of the rational thinking and complexity with numbers.
In his spare time, Kevin loves to watch movies, play video games and collect. His favourite video game series is Monster Hunter and favourite movie is Sword of the Stranger.
Trevor Pu, Instructor
Trevor Pu is working as an Electrical Engineer in Toronto and graduated from Dalhousie University. He enjoys teaching math and sharing his unique math techniques to children. Trevor is always thinking about a better way in which he can combine his Chinese Education background with the Canadian Education system to make learning more efficient.
He was also a professional badminton coach back in China and is passionate in all smart home applications. Trevor believes the smart home system will change the way of living in the future.
Trevor Tsuji, Instructor
Trevor is a graduate of Computer Programming at Seneca College and of Information Technology Management at Ryerson. From coaching baseball and hockey to teaching outdoor survival skills, Trevor has always had a love for teaching.
Trevor loves hockey, baseball, golf and football. He has played hockey for over 20 years and teaches kids to skate. He also volunteers at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.
Rachel Levy, Instructor
Rachel is currently studying psychology and concurrent education at York University, with plans to become a primary school teacher. She is enthusiastic about working with children and learning and growing alongside them. Her love for math began in grade 6 after having a passionate teacher who made learning understandable and fun.
She enjoys reading, painting and spending time outdoors. She has previously worked at a summer camp and has volunteered with children and youth with special needs for several years.
Antonio Nardi, Instructor
Antonio is currently in his third year at York University. He is very skilled and passionate about math! Antonio is determined to contribute to the growth and development of Mathnasoium Vaughan and its students! He strives to create a positive space for children and High School aged students alike, while helping them build their math skills and confidence levels. Antonio prides himself on being sensitive, kind, and compassionate and his teaching style reflects this
Larry Martinek, Chief Instructional Officer (Headquarters)
Larry has spent his entire career finding a better way to teach math. From inner city to public schools, to acclaimed magnet schools, to leading private and parochial schools, Larry has served as both a classroom teacher and as an educational consultant. He has designed curricula, teaching strategies, and teaching materials designed to help students and teachers learn math more effectively. He has trained teachers in the art and science of boosting student's ability to "do" math, thereby increasing student's math scores and feeling of self-worth. Larry is the developer of Mathnasium's educational program - one of the most comprehensive and innovative curricula ever produced for teaching math.
