Kate Murray, Owner

Kate is an experienced educator, who believes in the value of a good education. Having been a class room teacher, a Learning Strategist, and the Director of Teaching and Learning at an Independent school in Toronto, Kate knows how important a solid foundation in Math is, and how hard it can be to come by! There are no quick fixes for math, which is why she believes in the Mathnasium Method. Kate's first centre in Forest Hill was so successful that she decided to bring the CRAZY to The Beach so that more students could benefit from the Mathnasium Method.

Centre DirectorLeah Hurtubise, Managing Director

Leah has worked in the education field for over a decade, with experience teaching in Canada and abroad.  She has worked both as a classroom teacher and a curriculum specialist, creating and implementing Canadian English, Science, and Math curriculum for International Schools. Leah strives to be a positive influence in students' lives and hopes to continue to inspire them to learn and grow as individuals here at Mathnasium! Leah loves to travel, get outdoors with her dog, and spend time with family and friends!

Chloe Lampman, Centre Director

Chloe completed her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of Victoria where she worked as a teaching assistant, tutor, and ran the Math Student Society. During that time she was also part of a team doing Math and Technology outreach across Victoria and remote communities on Vancouver Island. After a few years working in the tech industry post-graduation, Chloe is thrilled to be back working in Math education, sharing her excitement for the subject with students and staff alike! Originally from the West Coast, this new Torontonian loves being a part of the Beaches community.

Homayra Siddiqua, Lead Instructor

Homayra is pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Psychology at the University of Toronto. I have always had a passion for working with children as they inspire me. My experience includes working as a Roots of Empathy instructor, and volunteering at Frontier College. Homayra has been a part of the Mathnasium Team for the past year and is inspired by the fun and encouraging environment Mathnasium provides to our Mathletes! Homayra looks forward to continuing to help kids feel confident and excited to excel in math!

Hashem Alsaadi, Instructor

Hashem began his studies in Math at the University of Damascus in 2004, and he has been learning ever since.  He started teaching Math 7 years ago, and believes that math can help his students to solve problems, gain a better understanding of the world, and can also be fun! He likes to encourage his students to figure out the solution to problems on their own, and to use that confidence and independence elsewhere in life. Hashem is now pursuing a Bachelor of Education from York University. He is proud to be a part of the Mathnasium team and share his love for math with our Mathletes!

Mayurah Thayaparan, Instructor

Mayurah is pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering at Ryerson University. She loves math and aspires to help others gain the love for mathematics as well. Mayurah spent her volunteering hours as a classroom helper at various elementary schools, she loves it when kids are enthusiastic about learning new things. When she's not teaching math, she likes doing graphic design and learning about different cultures. Mayurah believes that the Mathnasium method has the ability to kick start a student's success in Mathematics.

Ron Zamora, Instructor

Ron is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health and Medical Physics at Ryerson University. Ron joined the team in December 2018. We can't wait to share more with you about this amazing instructor! Stay tuned to find out why Ron is crazy about math and what he enjoys doing in his down time!

Hastings Withers, Instructor

Hastings came to Canada in 1967 after graduating from the University of Sussex, with a B.Sc. in Philosophy of Science. After a career of almost 40 years in marketing and market research, Hastings retired in 2015 from his position as VP of Research for PMB. He authored several academic papers, contributed to the World Wide Readership Forum, and was active in helping colleagues understand the intricacies involved in interpreting and acting on market research data. Hastings believes his enthusiasm for math goes beyond his personal interest in learning more and challenging himself with new puzzles.  He likes to share that enthusiasm and value those moments at Mathnasium when he sees a young person 'get it'. Hastings is a father with 3 grown children and 3 grand-daughters. He lives with his wife in The Beach, where he is an active volunteer in the local community. He enjoys water sports and can regularly be seen at sunrise on the Boardwalk or the lake.

Emma Jarvis, Instructor

Emma is pursuing an undergraduate degree in physics at the University of Toronto St George campus. She has always lived in the Beaches and graduated from Malvern Collegiate Institute in 2018. She has lots of experience working with younger students as a tutor, piano teacher, babysitter, volunteer at a girl guide unit and volunteer at a summer camp.  Emma loves math and finds it very rewarding to help others enjoy math as well! Outside of Mathnasium, Emma is an avid reader and loves to travel the world with her family. She also has a passion for playing the piano and the flute. Emma looks forward to using the Mathnasium method to help all students excel in math!
