Barindra Dua, Centre Director/Owner
Barindra earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics in India. In 2005, she completed her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Sauder School of Business, UBC (University of British Columbia). Since completing her MBA, Barindra has enjoyed a successful career working in the Corporate Marketing and Strategy departments of leading companies in B.C. namely TELUS Communications, Coast Capital Savings Credit Union and BCLC. Her interest in math education sparked as she worked with her son on his math homework. Barindra is a firm believer in the importance of having strong math skills, and largely attributes her career success to a strong foundation in math. “A strong foundation in math helps beyond number crunching and good grades. It is fundamental to developing logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills. I am keen to help children develop these skills that will set them up for success in their future.”
Jasman Kocher, Instructor
Jasman recently graudated from the Columbia College with an Associates of Science Degree. She aspires to be a Physiotherapist. Maths has been her favourite subject since her early school years, and she took several higher level math courses in her college. She enjoys interacting with kids and sharing her math passion with them.
Justin Harms, Instructor
Justin holds an honors degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of British Columbia. He works full time with a tech company setting up networks for restaurants, and his love for mathematics and teaching brings him to his second job at Mathnasium. Justin finds teaching very refreshing, and he looks forward to exercising his math brain and sharing his knowledge with kids at Mathnasium.
Girija Vadakkeveetill, Instructor
Girija holds a Master’s degree in Computer Application and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Education. She has immense passion and commitment for teaching Mathematics. Girija worked as a Mathematics teacher for 19 years in a school in Middle East focusing on teaching, planning, developing and implementing the school curriculum. After immigrating to Canada, Girija joined Mathnasium, and she is excited to share her knowledge with the students of all ages and levels.
Mary Michelle Fernandez, Instructor
Michelle holds a Master's degree in Mathematics and one in Education. She is also pursuing her PhD in Education. Being a teacher educator for over 3 years and tutoring students in Primary and Secondary classes, she has always been able to support and deliver instructions in the most appropriate and suitable method. She strongly believes that kids will enjoy the Mathnasium way of learning and develop good problem solving, quantitative and analytic skills.
Yash Pal Bharti, Instructor
Yash Pal completed his Master’s degree in Computer Sciences in India and recently earned Associate certificate in Agile Development from BCIT. He has more than 8 years experience in teaching computer science theories to adults and worked as a coding Instructor for kids of different age groups. Yash Pal believes Mathnasium practices keep the students interested in Mathematics and loves sharing his math skills with kids.
Herman Sangha, Instructor
Herman is a second year students at the Universitry of British Columbia. He is pursuing a Bachelor's of Science degree. He enjoys working with students and sharing his knowledge with the young minds.
