Our Team

Katy, Centre Director

Katy has a master’s degree in information technology, and an undergraduate degree in computer software engineering. She has lots of experience teaching and tutoring math and science to students in university, high school and elementary school. Katy believes that all her students can do well at math, and she loves to use the Mathnasium Method to help them catch up and excel.

Katy is responsible for ensuring that our centre:

• is staffed with Exceptional People who have strong math skills, a passion for math education, are friendly and outgoing, know how to interact with students, and have great communication skills;
• diagnoses skill gaps and sets learning goals for all students using verbal and written assessments;
• creates and maintains student Learning Plans to help ensure the success of each student;
• teaches the Mathnasium Way using Mathnasium teaching constructs;
• provides individualized instruction to students, and checks on students proactively and reactively to keep them engaged and working independently;
• communicates progress to parents and addresses their needs.

Outside our centre, Katy enjoys spending time with her family who are all STEM professionals and students!

Monica, Assistant Centre Director

Monica is pursuing post-graduate studies in the sciences at York University. She works and volunteers a lot with charitable groups, and she really enjoys working with our younger students. She is very proud of our students when their confidence grows and and they improve their math abilities. One of her passions is to help students become crazy about math!

Sarah, Instructor

Sarah is a York University graduate in computational arts and technology. She loves to share her knowledge with all our students, and she connects especially well with our younger students. Sarah has worked and volunteered extensively with service clubs and groups, and also has previous tutoring experience. She enjoys seeing our students' confidence levels grow.

Gavin, Instructor

Gavin is studying Computer Sciences at York University. He enjoys providing community service, including as a camp counsellor, youth program coordinator and scout pack leader. Gavin also enjoys giving our students the opportunity to do well in math. He thinks it’s great that our students have a chance to learn from multiple instructors. An avid sportsman, Gavin is president of his taekwondo club.

Minoo, Instructor

Minoo is studying Life Sciences at the University of Toronto. She has a history of supporting her peers and other students in math, swimming and other activities.  Minoo communicates effectively and easily with students with different learning styles. She is committed to helping students do well in math and achieve their goals. Minoo enjoys playing the piano, martial arts, cooking and STEM!

Pegah, Instructor

Pegah is completing a medical practioner program. She loves to teach and share her knowledge with students who may have challenges understanding math concepts. She is an avid volunteer who enjoys supporting her community!

Pensee, Instructor

Pensee is studying commerce at Western, where she is active in clubs and team events. Throughout her school career, she has provided her peers with math tutoring and support. Pensee enjoys seeing our students develop their independent learning skills, increase their confidence levels, and better understand math.

 Eric, Instructor

Eric studied Statistical Science and Mathematics at the University of Toronto, and has lots of experience teaching and tutoring math. Eric enjoys being able to help students improve and become more comfortable with math. Eric is an avid tennis and chess player.
