Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. CentreDirectorHua Yi, Co-Owner & Center Director 

Hua is a co-owner and the Centre Director at Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne. Hua has a bachelor’s degree in engineering. She loves mathematics and believes the math is the keystone for all another academic subjects. She is a team player and would like to share her enthusiasm for math with young students. Hua strongly believes Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne is a great organization encouraging the next generation to always enjoy the fun during their math learning progress. In her spare time, Hua loves skiing, gardening, and travelling around the world. 

Mouri Shahabuddin, Co-Owner 

Mouri is proud to be an instructor at Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne. She has always enjoyed Math throughout her school years and is passionate about helping children gain confidence in their math skills. Mouri has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and she is currently pursuing her MBA at the Haskayne School of Business. Mouri wants to continue teaching math the Mathnasium way as she has noticed the importance of math in everyday life. Outside Mathnasium, she enjoys playing badminton,travelling and spending quality time with friends and family.

 

Mohiuddin Talukder, Co-Owner 

Mohiuddin (Mo) is a self professed math geek and loves working with children . Mo is committed to teaching kids math in a way that makes sense to them. Mo is a Project Management Professional (PMP)  with a degree in  Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick and enjoys exploring new technologies. In his spare time, he is a pro at table tennis, enjoys networking and travelling.

 

 

Paul Fish, Asst. Center Director 

Paul obtained his Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and used that education to create software and deliver business solutions involving complex engineering calculations for over 35 years. Today, he enjoys encouraging students in educational pursuits through their development of proficiency and excellence in math, accomplishing that goal through a partnering with parents and the great team at Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne. Outside of work, Paul is active in his local church, takes the family dog for walks along the Bow River, and sings in a local choir.

 

 

Craig, Instructor 

Craig is an easy-going math enthusiast. Craig is currently undertaking a BSc in Mathematics through Athabasca University. He believes that the key to learning math is focusing on problem- solving skills and number sense, rather than memorization. Craig thinks students who develop good problem solving skills can better retain mathematical information and are more able to apply their learning to new situations. Craig knows mistakes are an important part of the learning process, and makes sure to foster an environment where students do not feel selfconscious. In his free time, Craig enjoys playing chess, going for hikes, and watching television/movies. 

 

 

Emilio, Instructor 

Emilio is a born and raised Calgarian, and enjoys all the city has to offer.  He has a passion for math and science, and an excitement for teaching kids.  Emilio graduated from the University of Calgary with a BSc in Civil Engineering (minor in Structural), and in the work force he specialized in designing welded wire mesh for concrete reinforcement.  He recently decided to go back to university to satisfy his passion for teaching.  He is currently studying the BEd (Elementary) program at St. Mary's University, to be completed in 2020.  His outside interests include soccer, swimming, reading, and spending time with his son.

 

 

Gurs, Instructor 

Gursimran (Gurs) is excited to be a part of the McKenzie Towne Mathnasium team. Gursimran studied Mathematics at the University of British Columbia and has several years of teaching and tutoring experience. Science and mathematics have always been the subjects he has naturally enjoyed. Gursimran believes that mathematics is the language that sets the foundation for future scientific and computer literacy. He looks forward to being a part of the learning process for younger students and bringing an infectious passion for mathematics. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, basketball, movies and spending time with his family.

 

 

Michelle, Instructor 

Michelle is a student at Mount Royal University working towards her degree in Elementary Education. She has enjoyed problem solving in mathematics from a young age and hopes to spark the same joy in her students. She also believes that the process of problem solving used in mathematics are widely applicable in everyday life, making it a crucial skill for all. Michelle is excited to teach and learn along with the kids and team at Mathnasium. In her free time, Michelle enjoys painting, playing the flute, and playing badminton.

 

 

Camilo, Instructor 

 Camilo is a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Calgary entering the final year of his BSc degree. Throughout his studies, he's learned that a fundamental understanding of math is an important skill to have in all stages of life, with everyone learning in different ways and at different rates. At Mathnasium, Camilo is excited to help students hone their understanding of math in the ways that work best for them. Besides math, he is passionate about music, hiking and martial arts; he currently holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

 

 

Fizz, Instructor 

Fizz is a licensed Primary Care Paramedic, currently an Advanced Care Paramedic student at SAIT. His love of math began in childhood in Singapore, continuing through high school and later at Simon Fraser University in BC while enrolled in mechatronics systems engineering. Fizz believes that the fundamental concepts of math relate to one’s outlook: for example, there is always more than one way to look at obstacles in life to create the best outcomes. Dedicated to helping the community in as many ways as he can, Fizz teaches fitness classes for a local gym and, in his free time, enjoys Sci-Fi movies and playing video games. Meagan, Instructor 

Meagan is a student at the University of Calgary working towards her degree in secondary math education. Math has always been her favourite subject, enjoying problem solving and working with numbers. She wants students to be able to understand and enjoy math, excited to teach them that math does not have to be a headache but is practical and fun. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, music and spending time with her pets.

 
 
 

Jordyn, Instructor 

Jordyn is a student finishing her BSc in Astrophysics and Physics at the University of Calgary.  She has loved math since she was a child and continues to use valuable math skills in her studies.  As an instructor at Mathnasium, Jordyn hopes to share her enthusiasm for math with students and help them understand the role that math plays in everyday life.  In her free time, Jordyn enjoys playing video games, spending time with her cats, and knitting.

 

 

Jadyn, Instructor 

Jadyn is going to be a Nursing student at the University of Calgary and has a few years of experience teaching. Math and problem-solving have always been subjects she really enjoys - an understanding of numbers which she hopes to pass on to others. Besides a love for math, Jadyn is also passionate about music, art and volleyball.
