Hua Yi, Co-Owner & Center Director
Hua is a co-owner and the Centre Director at Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne. Hua has a bachelor’s degree in engineering. She loves mathematics and believes the math is the keystone for all another academic subjects. She is a team player and would like to share her enthusiasm for math with young students. Hua strongly believes Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne is a great organization encouraging the next generation to always enjoy the fun during their math learning progress. In her spare time, Hua loves skiing, gardening, and travelling around the world.
Mouri Shahabuddin, Co-Owner
Mouri is proud to be an instructor at Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne. She has always enjoyed Math throughout her school years and is passionate about helping children gain confidence in their math skills. Mouri has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and she is currently pursuing her MBA at the Haskayne School of Business. Mouri wants to continue teaching math the Mathnasium way as she has noticed the importance of math in everyday life. Outside Mathnasium, she enjoys playing badminton,travelling and spending quality time with friends and family.
Mohiuddin Talukder, Co-Owner
Mohiuddin (Mo) is a self professed math geek and loves working with children . Mo is committed to teaching kids math in a way that makes sense to them. Mo is a Project Management Professional (PMP) with a degree in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick and enjoys exploring new technologies. In his spare time, he is a pro at table tennis, enjoys networking and travelling.
Paul Fish, Asst. Center Director
Paul obtained his Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and used that education to create software and deliver business solutions involving complex engineering calculations for over 35 years. Today, he enjoys encouraging students in educational pursuits through their development of proficiency and excellence in math, accomplishing that goal through a partnering with parents and the great team at Mathnasium of McKenzie Towne. Outside of work, Paul is active in his local church and takes the family dog for walks along the Bow River.
Craig is an easy-going math enthusiast. Craig is currently undertaking a BSc in Mathematics through Athabasca University. He believes that the key to learning math is focusing on problem- solving skills and number sense, rather than memorization. Craig thinks students who develop good problem solving skills can better retain mathematical information and are more able to apply their learning to new situations. Craig knows mistakes are an important part of the learning process, and makes sure to foster an environment where students do not feel selfconscious. In his free time, Craig enjoys playing chess, going for hikes, and watching television/movies.
Meagan is a student at the University of Calgary working towards her degree in secondary math education. Math has always been her favourite subject, enjoying problem solving and working with numbers. She wants students to be able to understand and enjoy math, excited to teach them that math does not have to be a headache but is practical and fun. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, music and spending time with her pets.
Jordyn has a BSc in Astrophysics and Physics from the University of Calgary. She has loved math since she was a child and continues to use valuable math skills in her studies. As an instructor at Mathnasium, Jordyn hopes to share her enthusiasm for math with students and help them understand the role that math plays in everyday life. In her free time, Jordyn enjoys playing video games, spending time with her cats, and knitting.
Charmaine is a student from Hong Kong studying at the University of Alberta, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Math. She has enjoyed math from the start, believes that being able to enjoy and master math is important because it is a field that is widely applicable to our everyday lives, and hopes to pass on that passion to others. She is also passionate about the field of social statistics. Her outside interests include languages, watching different kinds of sports and anime, doing crafts, and playing Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Yemi has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and is a certified project management professional. He is passionate about learning and facilitating "light bulb" moments when teaching maths. He enjoys researching innovations in information technology including machine and deep learning. For hobbies, he enjoys playing chess and sudoku.
Angi is entering her second year at the University of Calgary, majoring in Math and Computer Science. Math is one of her favourite subjects: there are limitless approaches to solve problems. She wants to motivate other students by helping them discover their interest in math and build stronger problem-solving skills. She enjoys playing badminton, spending time with friends, and binge-watching drama episodes.
Jayniel has a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary. Since he was young, "Jay" has enjoyed the challenge of solving math and science problems. With a few years of experience tutoring math, Jayniel hopes to help students build confidence in their math skills, important for everyday life. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Stuti is a Grade 12 student attending Western Canada High School. She loves anything related to math or science. She likes problem solving and wants to help end the stigma around math in early education. Aside from school, she is passionate about the sciences and hopes to pursue a career in the field of biomedical engineering.
Katherine is pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Mathematics at the University of Calgary. Katherine’s passion is helping students understand the concepts behind math and how it shows up in daily life. She wants students to connect with math personally, like how she came to understand fractions through playing music. She understands frustration is part of the learning process but hopes to provide students the tools and skills to navigate through successfully. In her spare time, she enjoys playing video games, playing piano, and drawing.
Aarti is a second-year student at the University of Calgary majoring in Biomedical Sciences. Math is one of her favourite subjects, second only to biology, and she believes that math can be applicable to many fields of study. She enjoys understanding the meaning behind what is happening in math and would like to help others further understand it too, applying it to other parts of life. Some of her passions include watching TV and reading books.
