Derek Yost, Centre Director/Owner
Derek graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario in 2002. He then travelled to Australia to obtain his Master of Teaching from Griffith University. He has been teaching in the Thames Valley District School Board for over 10 years now and has earned his Special Education Specialist certification, as well as many other credentials including his Principal's Certification. Derek's ability to develop strong connections with students and families drove him into business for himself, helping students in the area of Math. Coaching the Western Women's Lacrosse team to 3 OUA Championships demonstrates his strong desire for success and leadership capabilities both on and off the field.
Jesse Bergmann, Owner
Jesse obtained his University Degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, graduating with a B.A. in Sociology and minor in History. He travelled to Australia to obtain his Master of Teaching and has been teaching with the Avon Maitland District School Board since 2004. He is familiar with the Ontario Math Curriculum and has taught the subject in multiple grades. He has several years experience as a 1-on-1 Math Tutor with students ranging in grades from 2-12 with a high degree of success. His passion in Math is evident in the way he approaches teaching as well as in the success of students who he has helped. Helping students overcome the fear of Math and creating the self confidence necessary to be successful is his driving force. He is currently the Centre Director of Mathnasium London North located in the Hyde Park area.
Andrew Newman, Instructor
Andrew is studying a Bachelors of Science in Actuarial Science and Applied Mathematics at Western University. Andrew's experience in and outside of his studies has taught him the importance of math and its many applications in everyday life. He is passionate about mathematics and even though numbers infest his life he is driven to learn more about them. As a math instructor Andrew hopes to teach children of all levels how to understand math concepts in an individual and encouraging environment. Andrew likes to eat copious amounts of food and lift heavy things on a day to day basis.
Rachael Campbell, Instructor
Rachael graduated from the Concurrent Education Program at Brock University in 2015 with an Honours degree in French, and Bachelor of Education with French Qualifications. She taught in the Waterloo Region District School Board for 6 months, and has been hired on to the Thames Valley District School Board as a full time teacher in 2016/17 school year. Rachael enjoys playing soccer in her spare time, and has always enjoyed working with and helping children succeed.
Jenny Gu, Instructor
Jenny is studying a Bachelors of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering at Western University and is on track to pursue a dual degree with Business. Jenny's experience studying Engineering has taught her the importance of math and its many applications in everyday life. She is passionate about teaching students and helping them understand concepts. Jenny likes to run and do youga in her spare time.
Raashi Vijay, Instructor
Raashi is currently enrolled at Western University to obtain her Bachelor of Medical Science. She has a passion for math and giving students the support and encouragement they need in order to reach the next level of math. Raashi loved to see the Mathnasium Method in place, and is passionate about teaching math in a way that makes sense to children of all ages. Aside from math, Raashi enjoys to strength train and bake treats.
Nicole Benati, Instructor
Nicole completed her first year as a Mathematics major and Biological science minor at the University at Buffalo, on scholarship to play Division 1 soccer in the NCAA. Nicole believes that having a strong foundation in math is the key to understanding more complex concepts. She has a passion for teaching and wants to help kids improve their math skills, as well as their problem solving abilities. In her free time, Nicole enjoys rock climbing and working out.
Morgan Ross, Instructor
Morgan graduated from King’s with a B.A. in Criminology and minor in Sociology. He has been tutoring math for students ranging in grades 2-12 for a number of years and enjoys helping students develop strategies to improve their skills. As an instructor, Morgan loves how the Mathnasium method offers differentiated instruction, as he believes in providing a number of avenues for a diverse community of learners. Morgan enjoys playing baseball and attending live music venues in his spare time.
Breann Thompson, Instructor
Breann graduated from Western with a degree in History and Childhood Studies in 2014. From there Breann earned her Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University in 2015. She has been teaching math and science at Internationella Engelska Skolan in Sweden for the last three years. Breann has earned her Math Specialist certification and is working towards her Special Education certifications as well. Breann loves learning and her positivity about mathematics helps motivate students to reach their full potential. In her spare time Breann enjoys paddle boarding and kayaking.
