Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:
Kate Murray, Owner
Kate is an experienced educator, who believes in the value of a good education. Having been a class room teacher, a Learning Strategist, and the Director of Teaching and Learning at an Independent school in Toronto, Kate knows how important a solid foundation in Math is, and how hard it can be to come by! There are no quick fixes for math, which is why she believes in the Mathnasium Method. Kate's centres in Forest Hill and The Beach were so successful that she decided to continue the math fun at the Leaside location to inspire students to be CRAZY about math.
Leah Hurtubise, Managing Director
Leah has worked in the education field for over a decade, with experience teaching in Canada and abroad. She has worked both as a classroom teacher and a curriculum specialist, creating and implementing Canadian English, Science, and Math curriculum for International Schools. Leah strives to be a positive influence in students' lives and hopes to continue to inspire them to learn and grow as individuals here at Mathnasium! Leah loves to travel, get outdoors with her dog, and spend time with family and friends!
Emma V. Bisnaire, Centre Director
Emma has been at Mathnasium of Leaside since February 2016. She studied math and statistical sciences at the University of Toronto, and then completed her Project Management certification at Ryerson University. Emma loves to go out, and is always looking for new restaurants to discover around the city. She enjoys good company, good food and good music! Making math make sense to kids is absolutely the most rewarding part of her day!
Mark Leblanc, Lead Instructor
Mark has several years of experience at Mathnasium and is passionate about teaching math. He graduated from Mount Allison University with a BSc in Math & Physics, and has been crazy about math ever since! Mark believes that with the right attitude, and the proper instruction, every student is capable of succeeding with their math studies. More than anything, he wants his students to see how math can be interesting and fun, and take away the negative connotation that students so often associate with it. He has experience tutoring math at the elementary school level up to the university level. And in his spare time, Mark enjoys reading books and watching tv.
Shikhar Gupta, Lead Instructor
Shikhar has recently moved to Toronto to pursue his dream of obtaining a Master's degree in the field of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto. His passion for Maths led him to publish a research paper outside the scope of his engineering, in Statistics during his undergrad. If not academics, he is usually involved with his club, networking and organising events. He ardently loves to watch, discuss and play cricket in his free time along with enjoying some acoustic band sessions.
Jessica Glustien, Instructor
Jessica has been a part of the Leaside team since August 2018. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto, where she is planning to major in Computer Science. In her free time she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and watching her favourite TV shows on Netflix. She's always ready to add some help, subtract some confusion, and multiply your child's success!
