Our math tutoring program is available year round for in-person or online math lessons and homework help.

Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. Our tutors foster a caring, encouraging environment that helps kids thrive and learn! Read below to learn more about our talented team:

CentreDirectorSalina Tam Edillon, Centre Director 

Salina is the Centre Director at Mathnasium of Killarney. Prior to Mathnasium, Salina worked in the information technology field with a focus on cyber security and digital transformation. She also completed her MBA at the University of Calgary with a specialization in International Business.

Having always enjoyed and excelled at math, Salina started math tutoring at a very young age with peer tutoring in junior high that continued into high school. Unbeknownst to her, math tutoring and teaching would become a new journey that has "filled her bucket" in so many ways. Salina is working hard to have a positive impact on every child that comes through the door because she knows they can learn math with the Mathnasium method. She pioneered the low income subsidy program within the local franchise network because she knows the desire to improve is not limited to families within a certain income bracket. Armed with a centre ready to serve the community, Salina and her team are committed to helping students understand math and keep their doors open for all that the future has in store.

Married with 2 boys, Salina is an active volunteer at her sons' school and with various organizations including the Mustard Seed and Scouts Canada. 


Eric Larsen, Mathnasium Math InstructorEric, Math Instructor

Eric is a kind and patient individual who is passionate about math and enjoys helping others understand math in a way that makes sense to them. Having previously provided math tutoring while in school and after graduating, he is always eager to help others that may struggle. During his school years he always excelled in math and received many awards. Math is his favorite subject and he hopes to share his enthusiasm and show how much fun math learning can be! Besides math tutoring, Eric has an interest in technology and enjoys taking online courses to extend his knowledge. In his spare time he enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with his friends and family. Eric is excited to be a part of the Math Instructor team at the Mathnasium of Killarney!


Rhoda Mathnasium Math InstructorRhoda, Math Instructor

Rhoda is a first year University of Calgary student majoring in Engineering. She not only an aptitude for math, but a desire to share her time and knoweldge with others. Rhoda has previously tutored in math whenever possible with family friends and most recently did peer math tutoring during high school. She is sharp and friendly eager to share strategies or little hints to stay on top of the many concepts math covers. She has a talent for sewing and crocheting that she has used to create unique items as an art market seller so her communication is exceptional as is her focus on providing students the best atmosphere and experience. She is a great addition to the Math Instructor team at Mathnasium of Killarney.


Atina Mathnasium Math InstructorAtina, Math Instructor

Atina is an international student from Bangladesh majoring in Biochemistry at the University of Calgary. Since grade 9, she started tutoring math to junior high students and eventually tutored her own classmates in her final year of high school. Fun fact about Atina - when the results of her calculus class were published, her students got an A and she ended up with a B!

She is pursuing her studies in Canada to learn in a more diverse environment and hopes to implement all those lessons back in Bangladesh. Her goal is to establish a lab back in her home country which has all the advanced technologies and is more involved in gene therapy and stem cells. Aside from being a math tutor and studying, Atina loves to travel and learn the history/significance behind all the cities/landscapes. Lastly, she loves to do astrophotography as she has a great interest in astronomy. She is loving her new role as a Math Instructor at Mathnasium of Killarney and is excited to meet and work with new students!

Kelly Ham Mathnasium Math InstructorKelly, Math Instructor

Kelly is a second-year Bachelor of Science student specializing in Biochemistry at the University of Calgary. She believes her current studies will enhance her skills and knowledge for her future medical career. Kelly has not only been interested in learning math, but also she has been passionate about discovering a better way to teach math to students. In the past, she has worked closely with students providing private math tutoring and joining volunteer activities at The Calgary Bridge Youth Foundation. Kelly truly understands each student's uniqueness and the need for a different approach, which aligns with the Mathnasium methodology and face-to-face interaction. She believes active communication between instructor and student is critical to solidifying a foundation for great math education. With her kindness and experience, she prioritizes students' success and creates a comfortable learning environment. Kelly is looking forward to interacting with students and introducing them to the exciting mathematical world at Mathnasium of Killarney! 

In her free time, she enjoys cooking Korean cuisine and reading Biological research papers. 


Nathan Mathnasium Math InstructorNathan, Math Instructor

Nathan is a University of Calgary student who will be specializing in Finance. He completed high school in the AP program to give him an early start on his post-secondary education. Having excelled at math, he is joining the team to be a math tutor who is methodical and analytical to help students break down math problems into bite size pieces. Nathan likes to connect with others and give back to the community by volunteering at the Calgary Food Bank. He also enjoys being active in the mountains whether he is skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. We're excited to have Nathan make a difference in young people's lives as a Math Instructor at Mathnasium of Killarney!
