Alex Khassanov, Owner and Centre Director
Alex graduated with a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Ural State University in 1992. Ever since, he has been working in the IT industry, lately specializing in Enterprise cloud solutions. Working in a global economy and competing with highly skilled professionals around the globe was the main reason behind his decision to open Mathnasium centre. Being a father of three (the youngest one is a Mathnasium student), his goal is to help Canadian youth to become competent learners through engaging problem-solving to encourage confidence in their mathematic abilities and to prepare the youth for a competitive modern labour market. He enjoys playing music, reading, running, and rock climbing.
Alexandra Khassanova, Owner and Centre Director
Alexandra graduated with Honours from the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Brampton, Ontario in 2006. As a Registered Practical Nurse, she dedicated her career to helping people in need. She is experienced running the office operation. Alexandra contributed to the local community by coaching IP hockey teams. Being a working mother of three children (with the youngest attending Mathnasium centre) and the Centre Director Alexandra manages to find time to play hockey and to enjoy training her two dogs.
Larry Martinek, Chief Instructional Officer, Developer of Mathnasium Program
Larry has spent his entire career finding a better way to teach math. From inner city to public schools, to acclaimed magnet schools, to leading private and parochial schools, Larry has served as both a classroom teacher and as an educational consultant. He has designed curriculum, teaching strategies, and teaching materials designed to help students and teachers learn math more effectively. He has trained teachers in the art and science of boosting students' ability to “do” math, thereby increasing students' math scores and feeling of self-worth. Larry is the developer of Mathnasium’s educational program – one of the most comprehensive and innovative curriculas ever produced for teaching math.
While Larry is not an Instructor at our Centre, He is a valuable asset we can call on to ask about specific students' scenarios for guidance and advice. This has helped to make visits more productive and enjoyable for many of our students.
