Alvin, Centre Director
Alvin is the Centre Director at Mathnasium of Collingwood. Alvin has over 14 years of experience in working in the Information Technology industry specializing in Human Resources Management and Business Process Improvement. Over the years, he has volunteered with organizations to help newcomers to Canada through professional mentoring and language instruction. He is passionate about helping others and he is committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method and sharing his enthusiasm with the children in the Collingwood community.
Kris, Assistant Centre Director
Kris is the Assistant Centre Director at Mathnasium of Collingwood. First and foremost she is a mother of a beautiful daughter who will be starting her post-secondary education. Kris is an explorer who spent time in many different parts of the world experiencing different cultures and expanding her horizon. She has many years of experience in the Customer Service industry and comes highly recommended by her previous employers. She is passionate and dedicated to helping others and spends time volunteering with local SUCCESS and Mosaic BC organizations.
Luke, Lead Instructor
Luke is a UBC graduate, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Computer Science. He has private tutoring experience and mathematical knowledge. He has extensive volunteering experiences with organizations such as MOSAIC, Nikkei Home, and Learning Buddies Network. Luke is passionate about helping kids understand math and is excited about what Mathnasium has to offers to students of all ages!
Rosie majored in Mathematics and minored in Statistics from Simon Fraser University. Rosie is one of our high school instructors specializing in calculus and higher mathematics. She also has extensive knowledge in data management and problem solving. Rosie is a great asset to our team.
Polina is a current SFU student enrolled in Applied Science program and was a finalist on SFU Venture Idea Prize in 2018. She has volunteered at the TED Contributor as a translator with her fluent Russian. Back in Russia, she has worked as a substitute teacher for grade 4 students. She loves a challenge and is very hard working at everything she does. You will find her at the library even at late hours in the evening.
Always working hard towards her goal, Kara is one of our instructors at the Mathnasium of Collingwood. She is currently attending Langara College majoring in Health Science. She is fluent in Vietnamese and loves interacting with children and animals. She is always the first to bring extra treats and goodies for the students and other instructors. She brings a bundle of positive attitude and it seems to rub off on the kids!
Ryan comes to us from various background and with many experiences. He has worked as an accountant for a few years but now has gone back to UBC for a Cognitive Science Major. Graphic Design is another passion of Ryan and back in 2014 he was the winner of the bronze prize in the Crowbar awards by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents in Singapore. Welcome, Ryan!
Josephine is a current Bachelor of Science student at UBC and is a very highly motivated student with many academic achievements and certificate of distinction on multiple math contest: Gauss Mathematics Contest, Pascal Mathematics Contest, Cayley Mathematics Contest, and Fermat Mathematics Contest. She is also very passionate about working with kids volunteering her time in Kids4kids as a team lead in planning activities, tutoring and running a buddy reading program to elementary school students.
Sandy is a busy mother of two young boys. After she completed her BBA in international business, she began volunteering with youth and decided to become an elementary school teacher. She will begin the teaching program next year. On her spare time, she likes to practice brush calligraphy, do arts and crafts, practice yoga, and try cooking new recipes for her family. She also coaches youth and their families in their personal development, and volunteers in different schools to learn different teaching styles. Sandy has always enjoyed math and hopes that her passion for teaching will help her future students learn it in a fun environment.
Dylan is currently enrolled at Langara College majoring in Computer Science with plans to further his studies at UBC. He has plenty of experience working with kids, volunteering at UBC's Geering Engineering Camps, as well as 7+ years of working as an ice hockey referee. He really enjoys working and interacting with kids, bringing a calm and patient attitude.
